Dr. Darryl Costin Sr. – Chairman of the Board & CEO
Dr. Costin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgy from Case Institute of Technology in 1968, a Master of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering from The Ohio State University in 1972, and a Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering from The Ohio State University in 1975. Throughout his career, Dr. Costin focused on computer-designed experiments to achieve robust results in research. He was invited to deliver lectures at the graduate facilities at Stanford University and Ohio State University on The Practical Application of Statistically Designed Experiments."
Dr. Costin had served as the Chief Executive Officer of TechnoLines since its inception in 1993, emphasizing research, development and the obtainment of intellectual property to protect TechnoLines' novel laser-scribing technology. He led the development of significant advancements in laser etching textiles and other materials and consequently obtained over 30 patents in U.S., Europe, China, Mexico, Turkey, New Zealand and Russia, boasting hundreds of granted patent claims. He achieved an unprecedented international patent portfolio in laser scribing fabrics.
In 2013, Dr. Costin reorganized the company where TechnoLines became a majority partner in RevoLaze LLC, a new company geared to commercialize the novel patented high speed laser etching technology. He successfully consummated a partnership with TechnoLines LLC, Lear Corporation (the worldwide market share leader in automotive seating) and Shamrock Holdings (the Roy Disney investment company) to enhance the commercial strength of RevoLaze in licensing its technology on a global basis. Dr. Costin is the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of RevoLaze LLC.
Darryl Costin Jr. – President
As the President of RevoLaze LLC, Darryl J. Costin, Jr. is responsible for the growth of the business through commercialization of RevoLaze’s patented high speed, high power laser technology across multiple platforms.
Darryl was the Director of Laser Technology for TechnoLines LLC from 1999–2013 where he was responsible for advancing the laser technology and intellectual property portfolio. He is the author of several novel laser scribing concepts. He developed a new continuous “etch on the fly” laser process on wide textile roll goods to replace enzyme washed denim and ring spun denim. He invented and was granted a patent on a novel concept to eliminate the technical barrier associated with the presence of lines of demarcation from such processes.
Darryl led the development of high speed laser technology to replace the denim sandblast process where he reduced the cycle time for global abrasion from 4.3 minutes for conventional sandblasting to 33 seconds.
Darryl also served as the General Manager of Fractal Jean Company from 2001-2006 where he managed the introduction and branding of novel laser etched jeans. In that capacity, he was awarded the “Textile Design Award of the Year” from Cotton Inc.
He received a B.S. degree from the University of Dayton in Economics in 1999 and joined the company immediately after college.
Ryan Ripley – Vice President of Sales & Operations
Ryan has been instrumental in helping lead the RevoLaze sales and marketing efforts. For the past six years, he's generated company awareness in the textile and building product industries. Ryan brings an extensive technical background having worked in medical and industrial sales for over a decade. Today, he assists current and prospective licensees on the benefits of RevoLaze technology for their specific design & production goals. From initial product sampling to customizing a laser application to fit a customer's exact needs, he oversees the entire process. Ryan is a 2004 graduate of Kenyon College.
Kimberly Ripley – Vice President of Product Development
Kimberly is the Vice President of Product Development for RevoLaze. She has an extensive background in the denim industry and uses her 12 years of expertise to lead all new product development efforts at RevoLaze. She combines her great fashion sense with strong technical skills. Kimberly tests, converts and implements customers’ graphic concepts and ideas into laser-ready files. She also heads the sampling process at RevoLaze. Utilizing precise lazing parameters, she performs tests on a variety of materials including denim, leather, cloth, composite decking and more.
Kimberly also served as Director of Sales for Fins Denim and helped the company achieve a rare industry feat of sales approaching $1 million within the first year. She secured product placement in top department stores across the country including Nordstrom, Bergdorf Goodman and Macy’s.
Kimberly previously studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and is a 2003 graduate of Ursuline College, receiving a Bachelor of Arts, Cum Laude.
Heath Colwell – Director of Laser Technology
Heath has been involved with RevoLaze since the business was launched in the early 1990s. He has served both on staff and as a consultant. Heath’s knowledge and understanding of laser technology is unparalleled and he has helped advance the overall wattage and speed of the lasers to where they are today. At RevoLaze, Heath manages all laser operations, including the setup and training involved in new installations.
Ankur Chauhan – Head of Laser Design
With more than a decade of experience throughout the world in garment finishing processes, Ankur is instrumental in providing current and potential RevoLaze customers with the latest in denim design trends and developments. Ankur is extremely skilled in laser technology and helps our clients to optimize their laser design and production potential. He is also involved in several developmental projects to promote sustainability and reduce water and chemical usage in the denim industry.
Affan ur Rahim – Divisional Manager
Affan has over 8 years of denim finishing experience in laser development, laser design, denim washing and laser maintenance / repair. He has worked at some of the largest Pakistan denim mills, including Rajby International, Artistic Denim Mills and Akhtar Textile. Affan is currently based in Pakistan and trains potential and current RevoLaze customers throughout Asia on our software applications, including LightLaze. He is also instrumental in research and development on new concepts to help the denim industry decrease the usage of harmful finishing practices and increase production capabilities through RevoLaze technology.
